What happens when you have no working key at all
We pull the code. From the VIN, the lock itself, or the manufacturer, we get the cut pattern the vehicle was built with.
We cut and, if needed, chip the key. Our machines cut to code, and transponder keys get the right chip for your immobiliser.
We program it to the car. The new key is registered to the vehicle so it starts, and fobs are paired for remote lock and unlock. We test everything before leaving.
Dealer or mobile locksmith?
A dealer can always make your key, but it often means a tow, an appointment days out, and a wait for the part.
A mobile locksmith comes to the car, carries the common stock, and handles cutting and programming on the spot. For most vehicles, that is the faster route.
For a handful of very new or high-security models the dealer is the only option, and we will tell you honestly if yours is one of them.

Can you make a car key with no original at all?
Yes. We cut to the vehicle's code or by reading the lock, then program the new key so the car accepts it.
Do I have to get the car to a dealer?
Usually not. We handle cutting and programming at the vehicle, so there is no tow and no wait for a part to be ordered.
Is a spare worth it?
A spare cut today is a quick job. An all-keys-lost call later means a tow or a technician meeting you on the shoulder of the road, so most people get the spare while it is easy.
My fob still unlocks the doors but won't start the car. What's wrong?
Usually the transponder chip or its programming, not the whole fob. We can often re-pair the existing fob rather than sell you a new one.
Which makes do you handle?
Most makes on the road today, including Toyota, Honda, Subaru, Ford, Chevrolet, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Jeep and Mazda. A few very new or high-security models need the dealer, and we will say so up front.
How long does a replacement take?
Most keys are cut and programmed at the car in a single visit. All-keys-lost on some vehicles takes longer.
